THE STORY BEGINS...

On 1st of May 2008, me and a friend (Omel) went to Port Dickson to ease our mind while fishing in Marina Lagoon. It was a splendid 3 days vacation cos we have a chance to talk about our career plan and our future, it was very relaxing eventhough thru out the vacation we only caught a fish, hehehe.. On our way back, we stopped by at Port Dickson Mini Zoo, me and Omel has been animals lover since we were kids. It was a very simple zoo runs by a family. What caught our attention was they have guinea fowls and quite other few game birds.

When we get back in KL, we start searching information of Guinea Fowl and how we can breed it so that everybody can "taste" this very exquisite taste of this special game bird. The search for this game birds is endless, and along the way we met new friends that share same compassions. On 11th June 2008, the 1st batch of guinea keets arrive in BinDim Farm (BD Farm) in Pontian, Johor together with 8 poultes. This is a pilot project and i dont even tell my mum about the arrival of these birds.. hehehe... btw BD farm is own by me and my brother (Abdul Kadir @ Kadir Belanda).

To date, BD Farm has more than 250 turkeys and arnd 50 guinea fowls, we also raised ayam kampung & Ayam Kabir, we are targeting of supplying at least 300 birds per month starting from June 2010. Other than poultry, we also have 4 ponds of catfish, 4 ponds of ikan puyu, and 2 ponds of ikan haruan in our humble BinDim Farm...

MORRISONS GOES 100% BRITISH FREE-RANGE ON OWN-LABEL EGGS

Morrisons has announced that it has become the first top four retailer in the UK to switch to 100% British free-range on its own-label eggs.

This week’s introduction of 100% British free-range comes nine months earlier than Morrisons had previously forecast and will see millions of laying hens become free-range two years before the EU-wide ban on battery cages comes into force.

The retailer, which currently sells more than 10 million own-label eggs every week, will offer four own-label ranges, all 100% British and free-range, providing even more customers with an ethical choice when purchasing eggs. (Morrisons lowest-priced free-range eggs will be £1.37 for six medium-sized).

Jamie Winter, Trading Manager from Morrisons said; “We have been working towards this goal for some time. As Britain’s fourth largest grocer, we have a responsibility to our customers, suppliers and their animals. We are unique in sourcing our food directly from the producers so we are able to introduce and maintain good farm animal welfare into our sourcing policies. We have a dedicated Farm Working Group which liaises with a network of farmer groups to shape our policies and set targets on farm animal welfare.”

Rowen West-Henzell of Compassion in World Farming comments; “Morrisons has achieved great strides over the last 12 months. Its move to 100% British free-range on own-label shell eggs demonstrates its commitment to improving animal welfare.”

Rezeki 2010....

salam semua...

sudah lama aku tak update blog ni.. sibuk sgt, selain aku baru je balik bercuti kat kg 7-15hb june lepas. masa kat kg on 8hb tu en nizam, peg JPV negeri ada call kami, die suruh kami dtg ke pej JPV pada pagi 10 jun, ada berita gembira katanya.. so kami pun apalagi 10 jun tepat pkl 8.30am dh tercegat kat depan opis JPV nusajaya, bandar iskandariah..

kami pergi bertiga, aku, abg aku kadir belanda dan en kamallullah (pengusaha angsa/ayam kg). En kamallullah ni otai giler, semua peg/pengurus JPV dia kenal. so kami pun request la nk jumpe dgn en nizam (unit aneka haiwan), tp die xde kat opis, pegi minum kot.. so, en kamal ni pun call la haji mansor (ketua unit unggas), bila nmpk kami je hj mansor terus ajak minum kat bawah dulu.. rupenya hj mansor ni dgn en kamal ni kenalan lama.. sepanjang minum tu byk jgk yg kami borak yg semua topic tu berdasarkan unggas2 dan bagaimana kami bole menaikkan industri ini. kami jg berjumpa dgn haji mahat (ketua unit promosi/pembangunan usahawan) dan berborak juga.. best giler dpt jumpe "big guns" kat JPV nusajaya ni dan bertukar2 no HP personal, hehe.. cayalah!!

lepas minum pagi dgn "otai2 JPV" kami pun jumpe en nizam. kami masuk bilik meeting dan die kata yg JPV nusajaya melalui unit aneka haiwan nk bantu kami mengembangkan lagi projek kami. (BD Farm dgn ayam belanda, en kamal dgn angsa). JPV akan bagi inkubator auto percuma, dan sedikit bantuan kewangan utk upgrade reban, ALHAMDULLILLAH... so blk dr meeting tu muka memasing senyum jer... hehe..

aku dgn abg aku plan nk gunakan duit tu semaksimum mungkin. kami bercadang nk buat pagar (0.8 ekar/34k square feet), dan membeli mesin2 seperti generator set (back up utk inkubator) dan mesin cabut bulu ayam. insyaAllah by next month kami dpt peruntukkan tu, aminnn...

p/s: yg paling best 10 jun tu b'day aku, so jadi mcm hadiah b'day la for me.. tq jgk pada dr zul (bos unit aneka haiwan), haji mansor, haji mahat for your support. insyaAllah nanti kami akan minta bantuan lagi.. kekeke.. juga TQ pada en borhan (vet pontian) sebab byk tolong kami n bagi nasihat, insyaAllah apa yg kita plan tu akan berjaya, aminnnn...

Ayam Kesayangan Pengurus Besar

Salam semua… post kalini aku nk cerita mengenai ayam kesayangan manager besar BD Farm (mak aku), hehe.. seperti yg korang mungkin dh tau dari post2 aku yg lepas, manager BD Farm sememangnya anti kepada guinea fowl (ayam mutiara /api2). Sbb die benci ada banyak, antaranya kerana sangat liar dan susah nk dijinakkan selain dari pitching suaranya yg mampu memeningkan kepala sesiapa saja..

So if ada yang dibenci, tentulah ada yg disayang, hehe.. Ayam yg paling beliau sayang ialah ayam serama jantan kami yg beliau beri nama Tek Ke Tek (pronounce as Tack Kay Tack). Ayam jantan ni berusia dekat 2 tahun dan merupakan alpha male serama kat reban kami. Tek ke tek ni mmg sgt jinak dan manja, tak byk bunyi Cuma berkokok pada waktu subuh betul2 kat depan pintu masuk utama rumah aku, hehe.. So walaupun kokokannya tak kuat mana (maklum la ayam serama) tp sentiasa didengar oleh isi rumah sbb betul2 kat tepi pintu umah..

Daripada sifat2 tek ke tek tu sendiri kita dpt bandingkan dgn guinea fowl / ayam mutiara. Tek ke tek mmg mempunyai sifat yg berbeza malahan bertentangan dgn guinea fowl / ayam mutiara kami, so tak hairan la kenapa dia menjadi ayam favorite Manager Besar kami, hehehe..

Dulu ayam serama cuma ada 3 ekor jer termasuk tek ke tek tp setelah lebih setahun mereka mula mengawan, skrg bilangan ayam serama adalah x kurang dari 25 ekor, semuanya bukan lah baka yg mahal2 tu, bukan show breed punye baka, tapi hanya baka yg biasa saja w’pun ramai jgk yg prnh dtg reban kami mengatakan yg baka ayam serama kami “boleh tahan”, hehehe..

Ok lah, kat bawah ni ada beberapa pics tek ke tek utk tatapan semua, enjoy…

p/s: w’pun kecik, tp tek ke tek ni garang, siapa kacau bini2 die tentu die belasah w’pun ayam tu 5-6 kali ganda besar dari die..
